Brake Warning Signs

Brake Team recommends that you have your brakes inspected at least once a year or if you experience any of the following:

• Squealing noise: Brakes make a high pitch noise.
• Grinding: Brakes make a grinding noise.
• Pulling: A vehicle can pull from one side to
another while braking.
• Shaking / Vibration: Shaking or vibration can
come from the steering wheel, brake pedal or
the entire vehicle when the brakes are applied.
• Brake Light: When the indicator light comes on,
this could be a warning of possible brake failure.
• Low or "Spongy" Pedal: A "spongy" pedal almost touches the floor when pressure is applied.
• Hard Brake Pedal: Hard pedals can indicate damaged brake linings or power brake
trouble among other problems.
• ABS Light On: When the ABS light comes on, this could in could be anything from low
brake fluid to a bad component which could be a minor to a serious problem, but in most cases
it will only cause your anti-lock brake system to stop working and your regular brakes to work
which will allow to be able to go into a skidding stop on emergency braking.
• Grab: Brakes grab with the slightest touch.

Sometimes you will experience these symptoms while not applying the pedal. Generally, this is an indication of a severe problem and you should bring your vehicle in to a Brake Team location as soon as possible to avoid further damage to the brake system.
